In our mission to increase how American history is taught in California schools, we will be visiting the Imperial Valley School District at the invitation of the Imperial Valley County Office of Education for two events on October 25th and 26th, 2016. Deputy Superintendent Amanda Brooke and her amazing colleagues are working closely with us on the development of the Kinsey Collection classroom curriculum, and we couldn’t be happier to have them on the team. We look forward to meeting the parents and educators of Imperial Valley, for what promises to be two impactful events.

6/09/15 – Morgan Freeman visits The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection at Mississippi State University!
L-R Stephen Cunneto (MSU), Khalil Kinsey, Shirley Kinsey, Morgan Freeman, Dr. Linda Keena, Dean Frances Coleman (MSU) and Dr. Peter Ryan (MSU)
We were honored with a visit from Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman to see our African American Treasures exhibit at Mississippi State University, and had the privilege of sharing the day with he and Dr. Linda Keena, even fitting in 9 holes of golf on the MSU course. Mr. Freeman is quite the historian himself, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the objects contained in the exhibit. It was a wonderful day, and the start of a great friendship. We thank Mr. Freeman, Dr. Keena, and the awesome Mississippi State University staff for a great experience.
