Please join us on Saturday, February 28th at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles for “An Evening of Legacy with Bernard & Shirley Kinsey”; a night of enlightenment and inspiration, where we will celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions that have helped to build and shape America. Bernard Kinsey will take the audience on a riveting journey through time, highlighting the countless untold stories of African Americans in this country from 1595 through the present, a virtual tour of the award winning The Kinsey Collection museum exhibit that has been visited by over 4 million people and is currently on display at Epcot, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

This evening is in partnership with the historic Ebony Repertory Theatre and the Los Angeles chapter of the Florida A&M Alumni Association. Proceeds from the event will go towards scholarships to help California students to attend Florida A&M University.

For the 4th consecutive year, we kick-off Black History Month with the Ebony Repertory Theater at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. Hosted by CBS’ Pat Harvey, the evening will provide insight into the Kinsey’s 46 year partnership and passion for African American history and culture.

“From Where We Come” Installation at City Hall

In celebration of Black History Month, Los Angeles City Hall will be showcasing select images from The Kinsey Collection in its over-bridge corridor. Sponsored by 10th District Councilman and Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, the installation will be recognized during the City Hall assembly on the morning of Friday, February, 8th 2013 The installation will be on display for the entire month of February.

The Kinsey Collection exhibit opens in San Francisco

Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD)

We are excited to announce the opening of The Kinsey Collection exhibit at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, CA. In a partnership with Wells Fargo, February marks the beginning of our 2013 national tour where our collection of African American art and history will exhibit at 3 prestigious museums across the country.

The exhibit will be on display in San Francisco until May 19th, 2013 and will then travel to the Harvey B. Gantt Center in Charlotte, NC and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD.

“African American Treasures” opens at the Barrett Art Gallery

Our smaller exhibit “African American Treasures: From The Collection of Bernard & Shirley Kinsey” opens at the Pete & Susan Barrett Art Gallery in Santa Monica, CA on Saturday, February 16th. The exhibit will be open for one month, closing on March 9th, 2013.

The Kinsey Collection opens at Disney World!

American Heritage Pavilion – EPCOT Center – Orlando, FL

With the utmost pride and excitement, we are pleased to announce that a portion of The Kinsey Collection will be housed in the American Heritage Gallery of the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT Center, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida beginning in March 2013 and showing through 2016. This project has been years in the making and it is something that we could never have imagined.
